Mental health support for children, families and adults
Providing a safe place to talk and improve emotional wellbeing.
The Burden Basket is a mental health service provider for children and young people. We provide support for teachers and staff who work with vulnerable children and young people in school settings. We also offer therapy for parents and adults or professional supervision/debriefing
The Burden Basket staff are qualified to work with children and young people; offering face to face therapy, web-based or telephone supervision sessions. We can offer mental health lessons to groups in schools on topics such as emotions, anxiety and confidence.
The Burden Basket Can Help With Your Mental Health
Many people are put off asking for counselling/therapy because they are not sure how it can make a difference. Consider some of these questions that may help your decision…
- When you feel therapy would be beneficial, where do you go?
- What would it be like if your problem never got better?
- If you were worried about your child, do you think you would act on it?
- Feeling concerned about your child; can you feel your own wellbeing being affected?
- How could outcome measures and setting goals help you to get back on track quicker?
- Would it be easier to use self-help, computerised therapy or online individual therapy?
It is surprising how helpful talking things over can be. Do not give up because you and your child/family ARE worth it. There is ALWAYS HOPE

Preparing for Therapy
Prior to our first conversation consider what it is you want to change. What help have you used in the past and what difference has that made? What do we need to achieve to make your sessions worth the investment in you? If you had set a goal, where are you at right now with that goal? What skills and strengths do you have that will help you achieve your goal?
